BOTOX® actually has a wide range of applications.

Known for its successful treatment of forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, smile and frown lines as well as laugh-lines and deep facial creases, BOTOX® Cosmetic is the number one nonsurgical cosmetic procedure in the U.S. Because results are fast with minimal side-effects, which may include redness at the injection site and some swelling, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a non-invasive treatment that typically lasts from 4 to 6 months.

With 25 years of experience providing exceptional cosmetic surgeries, Dr. Kleto is well-versed in providing his customers BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments to achieve the beautiful, stunning results they deserve. He also has the benefit of teaming up with one of the region's top providers of non-surgical cosmetic procedures, Cynthia St. Germaine.

Dr. Kleto believes in fully informing his patients about the procedures, allowing them to make educated decisions about their treatment. Because Dr. Kleto strives for his patients to be informed, it is helpful to know all of the conditions that BOTOX® Cosmetic can treat.

What Else Can Botox® Cosmetic Treat?

BOTOX® Cosmetic has been found to be successful in treating much more than facial wrinkles. Conditions in which BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used include:

  • Sweat prevention
  • Chronic pain
  • Migraines
  • Muscle spasms
  • Overactive bladder
  • Lazy eye

While the treatments are long lasting, typically 3-6 months, they are not permanent and require on-going injections. Side-effects are minimal; you should seek a doctor’s attention after treatment if you experience any muscle weakness, vision trouble, have a hard time speaking or swallowing, or have a loss of bladder control. Also, BOTOX® Cosmetic is not recommended for women who are pregnant or are breastfeeding.

How Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Work?

The botulinum toxin injections used in BOTOX® Cosmetic block the chemical signals from nerve endings, resulting in temporary relaxation of the muscles. This relaxation of the muscles is the reason for the successful relief of:

  • Diminished facial wrinkles
  • Muscle tightness causing chronic pain
  • The nerves in the sweat glands are blocked to reduce sweat production
  • Muscle spasms relaxing due to the nerve-ending blockage

Migraines are trickier to pinpoint. The theory is that BOTOX® Cosmetic injections in the neck and shoulders prevent pain signals from reaching the nerve endings resulting in the lessened severity of the headaches.
