What Should I Expect from Breast Augmentation Recovery?

The length of time it takes for you to recover from breast augmentation will largely depend upon how well you follow Dr. Kleto’s post-operative instructions, and the rate at which your body heals. Every patient heals at a different pace, but in general, you can expect to need around 4 to 7 days of downtime before returning to work.

You will experience some amount of soreness and discomfort in the first few days following your breast augmentation. Dr. Kleto will provide you with medication to control this lingering pain. After a few days, the swelling should start to subside, but it may be several weeks before your breasts “settle” and your final results begin to become apparent.

It’s important to avoid strenuous exercise during the initial breast augmentation recovery period, but walking is an important form of light activity that can help speed up your healing progress. Walking increases your blood flow, helps reduce swelling, and can prevent other post-surgical complications.

Dr. Kleto will schedule follow-up appointments with you at the one-week and six-week mark after surgery, and once a year after that. However, if you have any concerns at all throughout the recovery process, you should bring them to our attention right away. Our Knoxville breast augmentation team is here to help you have the best possible patient experience – before, during, and after surgery.

If you have further questions about breast augmentation recovery, please contact Dean Kleto, M.D. today or call (888) 431-4200 to schedule an initial consultation. We serve breast augmentation patients throughout Knoxville, Sevierville, and Knox County, Tennessee.
