Gynecomastia is a medical condition that causes enlarged breasts to grow on a man’s chest. Although many teenage boys have gynecomastia during puberty, it usually resolves on its own in 75% of cases. However, some adults still struggle with gynecomastia in adulthood – whether due to medication side effects, illness, weight gain, or aging.

If you have gynecomastia, there is no reason you need to live with it. Male breast reduction is designed to restore a flatter, more masculine chest by removing the excess tissue caused by gynecomastia.

There are two main approaches to male breast reduction:

  • Liposuction – If excess fatty tissue is causing your condition, liposuction alone may be used to perform a breast reduction. Liposuction only requires a small, easily concealable incision in order to remove fat.
  • Excision – If excess glandular tissue is causing your condition, an excision procedure may be necessary. The incision will be larger than the one used for liposuction, but its location and pattern can vary depending on your preferences and needs.

In some cases, Dr. Kleto may recommend using both liposuction and the excision technique to provide you with the best outcome.
