UV Safety Month - Knoxville Plastic SurgeonsDuring the month of July, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is promoting skin safety. The government is urging everyone to remember the dangers that the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause. Skin cancer is the most popular cancer in the country and avoiding the sun's UV rays is an easy way to prevent it.

Proper skin care begins with keeping your skin clean and moisturized, but it also needs to be protected from the sun.

Along with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, our Knoxville plastic surgeon, Dr. Dean Kleto, urges you to remember the following when going out in the sun:

  • Wear sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays
  • The FDA recommends a sunscreen with at least SPF 15
  • Wear clothing to protect your skin
  • Wear sunscreen even on cloudy days
  • Wear a hat
  • Wear sunglasses that are 100% UVA and UVB protected
  • Avoid the sun during peak hours if possible (10am - 4pm)

Protecting your skin can be a great way to keep it looking healthy and youthful. It can also be a way to maintain any procedures that you may have had done to your face. If you're interested in a consultation about skin care or a cosmetic surgery procedure, please contact Dr. Dean Kleto. Our team serves patients in Knoxville, Sevierville, and Knox County, Tennessee.
