Both BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM® are used to address unwanted signs of aging. The active ingredients in these two nonsurgical facial rejuvenation treatments are, however, very different, making them individually better suited for treating specific problems. During your initial consultation, board-certified Knoxville plastic surgeon Dr. Dean Kleto will listen to your concerns, evaluate your problem areas, and help you decide whether BOTOX® Cosmetic or JUVÉDERM will be the best fit for your needs.
BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks nerve signals from tensing muscles, allowing the skin to smooth in treatment areas such as:
- In between the eyebrows
- Along the forehead
- Next to the eyes (crow’s feet)
- Around the lips (smile and laugh lines)
BOTOX® Cosmetic may be very effective at reducing the depth of more severe wrinkles around the mouth as well.
A typically BOTOX® treatment will produce results for three to four months. Additional treatments will be necessary to maintain results, but these can be scheduled in advance to help ensure continued satisfaction with your appearance. Dr. Kleto will help you determine how often treatments will be needed for optimal results.
Dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM use hyaluronic acid to deeply moisturize treatment areas, allowing skin to plump up from underneath, filling in deep creases and fine lines in and around:
- The cheeks
- The nasolabial folds (parenthesis lines)
JUVÉDERM can also be used to enhance and plump the lips for a more distinguished pout.
A single JUVÉDERM treatment may produce results for 12 to 18 months, though individual results will vary. The best way to determine how long you can realistically expect your dermal filler treatment to last is through a one-on-one evaluation with Dr. Kleto at our Knoxville office.
