Juvederm Filler Injections: Dermal Fillers Knoxville, TN

Serving Knoxville, Sevierville, Knox County & Nearby Areas of Tennessee

Dermal fillers are a safe and effective way to restore volume to the face. As we age, our collagen production slows down and our skin begins to lose volume and develop wrinkles. Dermal fillers can help to smooth deep wrinkles and restore a youthful appearance.

Injectable fillers are also a great way to enhance facial features such as cheekbones and lips. Lip fillers in particular are extremely popular among women of all ages, since plumper lips are considered an attractive sign of youth. Fillers are also great to combine with other non-surgical treatments such as Botox™ or laser skin resurfacing.

If you are interested in dermal fillers, don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Dean Kleto today at 865.524.2442 to schedule your consultation. We serve patients in Knoxville, Sevierville, Knox County, and other nearby areas of Tennessee.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

There are different types of dermal fillers available, each of which targets a different concern. Dr. Kleto uses the Juvederm family of HA fillers, which are made of a hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps with moisture and elasticity.

Dr. Kleto performs all dermal filler injections himself, rather than entrusting treatment to his staff like many other plastic surgery offices do. His aim is to provide the best possible service and results to all of his patients, both surgical and non-surgical.

What Can Dermal Fillers Treat?

Facial fillers are great for treating a variety of concerns, including:

  • Thin lips
  • Sunken temples
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Lip lines
  • Under eye circles
  • Marionette lines
  • Cheekbones

In addition, dermal fillers can also help to shape the chin or the nose. If you’d like a more prominent chin, or if you want to fill in a chin dimple, dermal fillers may be able to help. They can also be used for a “non-surgical nose job,” if you want to reshape the tip or bridge of your nose in a subtle manner.

There are many different types of facial fillers, ranging from softer to firmer. Softer, more malleable fillers are better for delicate areas like under eye circles and lips, while firmer fillers are better for things like creating dramatic cheekbones or smoothing nasolabial folds. Dr. Kleto will listen to your concerns and help you find the best injectable filler for your needs.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers are one of several ways in which patients can fight the unwanted signs of aging. Fine lines, wrinkles, folds, and even volume loss can impact one's appearance and make them appear older than they are or feel. This is where Dr. Dean Kleto of Knoxville and Sevierville, TN, can help. He is a board-certified plastic surgeon in the community who provides nonsurgical options for patients seeking anti-aging treatment. One popular option is that of dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that add volume to the skin. This helps smooth out wrinkles, folds, and fine lines. It can also help to plump up areas of the face that have lost volume due to aging. These products are formulated using hyaluronic acid in a gel carrier to provide noticeable and dramatic results that can last several months. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally occurring in the body and can add volume right where it is needed for extended periods of time.

How Do I Know Which Dermal Filler Is Right for Me?

Dr. Dean Kleto will evaluate you to determine which type of Juvederm® filler is best suited for your unique needs. This examination includes a talk about one's medical history to decide if you are a good fit for this treatment or other more invasive ones. If you have used dermal fillers in the past, or have had other cosmetic injectables such as Botox® performed recently, please disclose this information so our provider can decide if you are a good fit for Juvederm® injections.

How Long Will It Take Before I See Results From Dermal Fillers?

The results from hyaluronic acid fillers from the Juvederm® family will appear immediately. However, some patients might notice some redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection site for a short time that resolves on its own.

How Long Will My Dermal Filler Results Last?

The results are not permanent, though they can last for several months. To maintain the changes long-term, patients will need to make an appointment a few months after the initial injections to obtain more filler. Upkeep is required to maintain one's appearance and slow the aging process with dermal fillers alone. There will be a point, however, when dermal fillers cannot address severe fine lines and wrinkles, and surgical options will need to be considered to achieve the desired results.

Are There Any Side Effects From Dermal Fillers?

Juvederm® fillers often present no side effects, but in some patients, itching, redness, swelling, and even bruising can occur from the injections. Dr. Dean Kleto will discuss the risks associated with these injections to understand better what to expect.

Is It Painful to Get Dermal Fillers?

Dermal filler injections are not usually painful. You may feel a small pinch, but most patients find it very tolerable. If you are concerned about potential pain or discomfort, we can provide a numbing cream, but most patients don’t need it.

A dermal filler treatment takes around 10 to 20 minutes, depending on how many areas you’re having treated. You may have some bruising and swelling afterward, but this will dissipate fairly quickly. Keep your head elevated and use ice for the swelling and arnica to help speed the bruising. You can cover any bruising with makeup.

There’s no real recovery time needed after having a facial filler treatment. You can resume all of your normal activities immediately after treatment. Dr. Kleto will let you know if there are any restrictions you should be aware of.
