Liposuction is one of the most popular body contouring procedures performed by Dr. Kleto every year. Many people come to us looking to get rid of stubborn pockets of fat that have resisted all their efforts at diet and exercise. Knowing what to expect from the liposuction recovery process can help you better prepare for your procedure.
The liposuction procedure itself is relatively fast and simple. Once Dr. Kleto has removed fat from your targeted treatment area(s), he will provide you with compression garments to wear throughout the recovery process. Wearing these will help:
- Reduce swelling
- Improve healing
- Help your body maintain its new contours
Recovery from liposuction usually involves minimal downtime. Most of our patients are able to return to work within a few days, and can return to their normal physical activities within a few weeks. Dr. Kleto will follow up with you throughout this period to ensure you are healing normally. He will inform you when it is safe to return to your normal exercise routine.
However, it’s important to engage in light physical activity – such as gentle walks – early in your recovery process. This helps improve bloodflow in the treatment area, promoting better healing and reducing swelling and discomfort. Dr. Kleto will provide you with a complete list of post-operative instructions before your procedure.
