Three Steps to Prepare for Your Knoxville Face Lift

Some patients who seek out Board Certified Knoxville Plastic Surgeon Dr. Dean Kleto with questions about face lifts are interested in how they can best prepare themselves for recovery.

As a general rule, most face lift patients experience relief from swelling and bruising within two weeks, and see the lasting effects of the procedure after about two months (and no more than six months).

But each surgical procedure can produce some discomfort, which is why face lift candidates may like to take the following steps to prepare for their recovery:

Face Lift Prep Tip No. 1: During your cosmetic surgery consultation, be sure to tell Dr. Kleto about all of your current medications including herbal supplements. The surgeon may recommend that you stop taking any medications that induce or prolong bleeding such as aspirin, Motrin or anti-inflammatories. If you take a vitamin E supplement, the doctor may also recommend a break from it as it thins the blood.

Face Lift Prep Tip No. 2: Reduce salt intake as salt induces swelling.

Face Lift Prep Tip No. 3: Schedule downtime and assistance. Immediately after your face lift, you may need to bandages, and you may experience discomfort. You will need rest. So it’s key to make sure that the refrigerator is stocked, the house is tidy, and any errands or responsibilities are covered beforehand so that afterwards, you can focus on getting the rest that is so pivotal to a healthy recovery.
